Primary Function
Under the direction of the Manager on Duty, Facility General Operator, and Shift Lead, assist wit the maintenance of all amenities (Outdoor and Indoor) of assigned facility to ensure cleanliness and that the building is safely operated at all times.
Position Duties
- Provide exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Assist in maintaining safe and tidy spaces ensuring equipment is set-up and stored appropriately
- Maintain facility (including but not limited to arena/ice, pool, fitness, all outdoor amenities, etc.), and use equipment (walk-behind floor scrubber and vacuums)
- Sweep and wash all types of floors, cleaning windows/mirrors and doors, walls, showers, cleaning washrooms, change rooms, emptying garbage’s and restocking of supplies
- Assist with arena flooding procedures (swinging of hockey nets, shovelling snow, closing gates, checking ice for debris, and sweeping player benches, penalty boxes and bleachers etc.)
- Assist with artificial turf and dome maintenance (moving of sports equipment, cleaning of rubber track and tennis courts)
- Responsible for the safe and efficient operation, care of tools and equipment
- Communicate with the public with a positive customer service approach to provide information regarding the facility, to arrange room rentals, etc
- Monitor user functions to ensure that building security is maintained, and the rental contract is adhered to
- Assist with set-up and take down of event spaces for functions, i.e., social events, trainings and meetings
- Maintain building grounds, litter picking, shovel snow, clear ice in winter, etc
- Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (e.g., incident/accident reports, logbooks and checklists including shift duties)
- Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor/Manager on Duty and take appropriate action
- Maintain an understanding of department programs and services
- Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff
- Attend team meetings and training as required
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team with minimal supervision
- Performs other duties as assigned
Selection Criteria
- Minimum 15 years of age
- Ability to work in varying and extreme weather conditions
- Current Standard First Aid / CPR C from an accredited organization, or ability to obtain within 1 month of date of hire
- Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) CSA Grade Steel Toe Boots at all times, and a CSA grade hockey helmet when working on ice surface
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
