Primary Function

The successful candidate will assist the Supervisor, Wetlands & Environmental Projects with tasks related to the day-to-day delivery of the City of Brampton’s Natural Heritage and Environmental Management Strategy and Natural Heritage Restoration Program.

  • Support ecological restoration and management projects through field monitoring, coordination, and administrative support
  • Assist with vegetation surveys, site photography, and invasive species tracking
  • Track restoration progress, maintenance needs, and project timelines in coordination with staff and partners
  • Contribute field content, photos, and updates for Brampton Grow Green outreach and communications
  • Assist with signage, maps, and educational materials
  • Maintain digital records and support grant and internal reporting
  • Prepare basic presentation materials and reports, and perform other related duties as assigned

Selection Criteria

Education

  • Post-secondary student in related field (biology, environmental studies, environmental science)

Mandatory Requirements 

  • Must possess a valid, non-probationary Ontario Class G driver’s license and CSA-approved safety boots

Other Skills and Assets

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience applying principles of environmental management, forestry, ecology, and environmental education, including restoration ecology and invasive/native species management
  • Ability to conduct field monitoring activities and work outdoors in variable conditions, including urban naturalized and wetland environments
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; community engagement or event coordination experience an asset
  • Flexible and able to work variable hours
